Shop small ya'll!
It is CRAZY that Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas is right around the corner. This year has flown by-I feel like it was just a few months ago that we sat down to make our 2025 dream board. (I may just glue the number "6" over the "5" in 2025-and recycle that dream board!) This year was our year of "PIVOT" and pivot we did! In the nick of time, too. The pivot of focus from boutique clothing to our upcycled, one-of-a-kind line (Rethreadz-where it all began for us) and the pivot to including our online shoppers to the Main Street Threads shopping experience! We have been getting to know our online shoppers through Tuesday Night Lives and custom pieces and adding some of who we are and what we value to our website. (We plan on a BIG overhaul to Mainstreetthreadsvb.com in January and can't wait for you to easily navigate all your favorites online!)
But, we still have about 5 weeks left of the Christmas shopping season and I want to talk briefly about that! You all have heard "shop small" for many years now and I'm afraid it is just not holding the weight that it did right after Covid. But the truth is, it is as important as it ever was! Maybe more! The ease of shopping the big box stores online and amazon is kicking all of our butts! We...(I realize I can only speak for small businesses I have a rapport with and have had this conservation with...) We need our local customers to show up! We need you to support our local events and to shop with us before you spend what may be limited funds this year at the big box stores. We need our online shoppers to write great customer reviews and encourage new customers to support us too! (I am totally speaking on behalf of all the small businesses and entrepreneurs out there)
Funny story, Tracy (my sister and business partner) and I were talking the other day about "Black Friday" and we realized Tracy had not made the connection that "Black Friday" was coined because it (and Quarter 4 in general) could bring businesses out of the "red" and in to the "black"!!!
We truly love our customers and wish you all an absolute magical Christmas season and an incredible 2026!
We look forward to wishing you Merry Christmas in person (and online) while you "shop small, ya'll!"
